Money-Saving Ways to Celebrate Valentine’s Day

By Cecille M. Gultiano

It’s 2018 and gone are the days of serenading your crush outside of their home (or is it?), or write your lover’s name on a paper heart and pinning it into your sleeve (yeah, people used to do that). Or maybe, because you are young, you think you don’t have the cash to celebrate on Valentine’s Day with your significant other. Well, let us help you with some money-saving tips during this holiday of love.

 1.      Valentine’s Dinner at home

If you can cook well, treat your boyfriend or girlfriend to a homemade Valentine's dinner. This technique will save you a lot of money and will get you more appreciation from them. You both can also cook which may even strengthen your relationship!

2     2. Go Arcade

Preparing dinner may be too stressful for some. Why not break a few pesos and spend the holiday with loved ones at the arcade mall. Even if you won’t get a prize or get enough tickets, the fun bonding time is what counts!

3.       3. Love and Fitness

People are on their phones and computers almost 24/7. It’s time to take a break and finally get some needed exercise. Why not celebrate Valentine's day by keeping fit? Activities like jogging, Zumba, biking, and playing sports are great and unique ways to celebrate Valentine's day. And after moving your bodies, you guys can treat yourself with some heart-shaped cookies or other Valentines themed goodies.

4.       4. Drop by at The Hive for “Bee My Valentines”

Bee FM is having an afternoon romantic live acoustic session outside of LT and Sons Building on February 14, Wednesday called “Bee My Valentines”. Not only will you and your beau get to listen to some sweet songs, but you can also get some couples tattoos, flowers, photos, and other stuff.

Fun Facts about Treasure Planet, Disney's Best Animated Deep Cut

Treasure Planet is my all-time favorite Disney deep cut. Adapted from the classic Robert Louis Stevenson's classic, it is one of those underrated Disney gems that hold some interesting facts. The movie has the record for the most expensive traditional animated film because of its extensive use of Disney's Deep Canva technique. According to Retrojunk.com is the technique that "allows a two-dimensional character to move freely through a painterly 3-dimensional computer-generated environment." The animated film was such a passion project for Ron Clements and John Musker, two of Disney's most successful Disney directors and legends. For Treasure Planet, they waited years to make it. They pitched the movie before making The Little Mermaid, Hercules, and Aladdin. When their then-boss still did not give them the green light to make the movie as promised, they angrily went to the higher-ups, and that's when they got their wish. Another fun fact is that they based Ji...
