Implementation Proper:
At
exactly 1:37 pm, the GADCC participants started to arrive at the Home for the
Girls. Department of Agrarian Reform brought gifts for the young survivors. Two
older survivors, or clients as they are called by their house parents, hosted
the program.
The
Center Manager, Ms. Fe Saumat, expressed her welcome address and continued on
to give basic information about the home, including its history and the
statistics, and shared about the survivors’ concerns, using a Power point
presentation.
At
2:30pm, Ms. Jasmine
Faelnar, DTI GAD Focal Person, acknowledged the participants who
joined in the visit. The participants that visited were representatives from
the following offices: PCA, NMIS, PhilFida 13, SJIT, DAR, CSU, CAAP, DSWD, DTI
and TESDA.
At 2:48 pm, Ms. Edna Hontiveros, GADCC
Co-Chairperson, gave her message to the survivors in the Home for Girls. Giving
them confidence that they are supported by the GADCC. She also expressed why it
is so important to minimize cases of abuse here in the region.
Next, the survivors of the Home for
Girls performed an intermission in a form of a dance. The participants enjoyed
their performance but the girls weren’t the only ones providing entertainment,
the representatives from Department of Agrarian Reform (Regional office) also
did a dance for the girls and the other participants. After that, the girls are
given presents courtesy of DAR. The
visit ended at 3:15 pm, with a final intermission from the survivors and an
expression of thanks from Ms. Saumat.
Blessings from the GADCC did not
stop there when the Department of Education (DepEd) arrived late and
distributed basic toiletries to the survivors.
Recommendations:
Ø
Next time, there should have
